A Free Medical Checkup & Treatment Camp was organized on 22nd Nov'09 jointly by Bharatiya Varishtha Nagarik Samiti (Bhavana) and Astha Old Age Hospital at Lucknow, exclusively for senior citizens.

The camp housed facilities in various sections; Pathology, BMD, ECG,Asthma, Naturopathy, Homeopathy and consultations by Geriatrics specialist Dr. Abhishek Shukla. More than 250 persons availed of the facilities at the camp.

For visitors from abroad the Delhi Welcome Committee will book the return train ticket - NZM to CKTD on 7th Feb 2010 and CKTD to NZM on 11th Feb. The ticket will be about US $80 for AC 1 and US $70 for AC II (keeping the tatkal status in mind), which we hope will be sent in advance or after reaching Delhi.

The Khajuraho package which Dreamz have given is costing US $335 which
includes transport from CKTD to KHJ (on 10th Feb), stay in the hotel one
night, breakfast, guide, KHJ to CKTD (11th Feb).

Old Age Solutions is a website promoted by India's Ministry of Science & Technology and developed by All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Started in December 2008, as the name suggests, it is a portal for providing technology solutions for the elderly. There are five major sections: Recreation and Health, Entertainment, Assistive Devices, Design and Environment and lastly Facilities. It is available in English Hindi and Tamil.

There is a "Resources" section giving info on contributors, consultants in the area of Assistive and Enabling Devices, Consultants in S&T interventions for elders etc. A separate section attempts to offer news items relating to seniors from news papers. Click-on http://www.oldagesolutions.org/

APSCCON is organising a Seminar on December 27, 2009 to discuss and highlight two very important subjects:

1] Problems and Concerns of Senior Citizens in Rural Areas and Slums
2] Right to Affordable Health Care of Senior Citizens [particularly of APL category]

The first is a very important subject but is generally ignored. Therefore, this Seminar needs your active participation.

It will be held in the auditorium of Sweekar Upkar, Picket, Secundrabad from
2.00PM to 6.30PM on Sunday, the December 27, 2009.
